Kelowna’s fastest wieners and pugs to line up at Okanagan Pet Expo

The Okanagan Pet Expo comes to Kelowna May 26, featuring a Turtle Talk, Weenie Waggle and Pug Dash

Weenies will be waggling, hounds will be hanging and pugs will be prancing at the Okanagan Pet Expo in Kelowna on May 26.

Doors to the event at the Laurel Packing House open at 10 a.m.

Those hoping to bring their four-legged or feathered friend with them must fill out a pet waiver prior to the event.

At 10:30 a.m. Cheryl Rogers, the founder of the Canadian Disaster Animal Response Team will give a presentation.

After Rogers, Justin Demerchant will take the stage for Turtle Talk.

For those interested, there will be a Hammock Hound Tiki Pawty and costume contest at 11:30 a.m. Tickets to the pawty include admission to the expo, lunch, dog treats and activities.

Then, the wieners and pugs will start warming up and for an afternoon of races.

At 1 p.m. the Weenie Waggle, featuring Kelowna’s fastest dachshunds will take place.

Then, at 2 p.m. snorty pups will line up for the Pug Dash.

In addition to the events, the expo will feature booths of pet-specific vendors.

All proceeds from the ticket sales for the event will be donated to Paws it Forward, a Kelowna-based dog rescue.
